“A beautiful place which surely repairs your body and soul
...” is how the famous Bohemian composer Gustav Mahler
described his summer holiday resort in Dobbiaco.
He spent the summer months of 1908 to 1910 at the Trenkerhof in
Altschluderbach, where he created the “Ninth Symphony”, the
unfinished “Tenth Symphony” and "The Song of the Earth”.
Every year since 1981 the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks
have taken place in Dobbiaco during the summer months.
The majority of concerts are held in the Grand Hotel Dobbiaco,
which today has become a modern cultural and conference centre
and which, among other things, is home to the national park
centre.
